The fuji instax mini is so much fun. You snap a picture, the image pops out, and you have a real photo in your hand right away. Sometimes it doesn't get better than that.

late summer light at dusk

All images © Christine Han 2009

i already miss the warm, buttery light you get at the very end of summer, with fall just around the corner. we just set our clocks back an hour since daylight savings ended, so today i really noticed the change in the light. it's more golden, and the sun is lower in the sky, which means the beginning of winter light.

happy pumpkins

happy halloween! i don't have any parties to go to or anything...
gonna make pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting instead,
and pesto so i can use up the basil before it frosts.

i don't want this time of year to end!
i feel a little sad at how fast the time goes.
at least i don't hate winter...

three little ducks

These three had their heads in the water, tail ends sticking straight up--so cute (click on the image to enlarge).

It's cloudy, windy, and cold...but it's the weekend! Have a good one.

There's a nice place in Schaumburg, IL (believe it or not)

All images © Christine Han 2009

Spring Valley Nature Center is one of my favorite places in the whole world. I must go there every time I'm in Illinois. It's a tiny piece of what the Midwestern prairie might have looked like way back when. I have this thing for tall grass, I really do. I can sit and watch it sway in the wind for hours...maybe I was some sort of little prairie animal in a past life, or maybe it's just that i'm short, so the tall grass looks really cool.

My sister Rosa

All images © Christine Han 2009

This is how I like her best, with no make-up and old clothes, when we're running around outside for no reason at all, laughing our heads off. I realize she is not laughing in this photo but there was plenty of it going on, I swear.

I like cooking...

...but I REALLY like cooking when I have a nice glass of red wine to sip while I'm doing it. That elevates the task to a phenomenally enjoyable activity.

Bash Bish Band

All images © Christine Han 2009

Just kidding, not a real band. I went to Bash Bish Falls/Taconic State Park with some of my favorite people in the world, and they all posed for me in the amazing light at our campsite.

Hiking in Taconic State Park

All images © Christine Han 2009

The highlight was meeting Jinx, the adorable dog! Actually, she was shy around people and didn't much like the camera, but I couldn't help but fall in love when she came trotting down the hill to soak her butt in the cold stream. She was so hot from hiking that she didn't care that there were five of us camped out there already. She paid us no mind, just went straight into the water and sat her butt down. So cute.

Vera & Phil

August 23, 2009
Brooklyn, NY

Back in August, I was hired by Jeff Zorabedian to second shoot Vera & Phil's wedding in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. Jeff, who is a really nice guy and great to work with, was kind enough to let me post some of the pictures I took that day. At the end of the night, I was convinced that I too wanted to have a Russian wedding at the Paradise Garden Restaurant and Cafe. They really know how to party!

Storm King Art Center

Above is one of my favorite sculptures in the garden, by Richard Serra.

I forgot to take a picture of Maya Lin's Wavefield, which is what we'd gone there to see, woops! It was really cool. I can't help but love art that's built into the earth.

Dead Horse Point State Park, Utah

All images © Christine Han 2009

Legend has it that some cowboys corralled a bunch of wild horses up on Dead Horse Point, picked the ones they wanted, and then left the rest to die of thirst. I really hope that story isn't true.

a little break from Utah photos...

lunch from our patio garden!
1. pick a bunch of cherry tomatoes and basil
2. boil a box of whole wheat penne
3. toss everything together with feta cheese and extra virgin olive oil (i like the greek kind--nice and fruity)
4. sprinkle salt and crack fresh pepper

5. eat!
(of course, i had to take pictures between steps 4 and 5)
